Seminare de DPNC ================ Mercredi, 8. mai 1996 17.00 - Auditoire Stuckelberg Universite de Geneve Departement de physique nucleaire et corpusculaire 24, quai Ernest-Ansermet 1211 Geneva 4 Tel. 022 702 6273 Fax 022 781 2192 ****************************************************************************** Sujet: Excited Beauty - more than just spectroscopy Par: Dr. Robert Kowalewski, universite de Geneve Resume: The discovery of strongly decaying B hadrons, the so-called $B^{**},$ will be reviewed and the present status of the measurements summarized. The $B^{**}$ system allows tests of Heavy Quark Effective Theory. In addition, these states, and more generally correlations between the b quantum number of a hadron and the charges of pions produced in the fragmentation process, may play an important role in flavor tagging for measurements of CP violation in the B sector.
