Seminare de DPNC ================ Mercredi, 22 nov. 1995 17.00 - Auditoire Stuckelberg Universite de Geneve Departement de physique nucleaire et corpusculaire 24, quai Ernest-Ansermet 1211 Geneva 4 Tel. 022 702 6273 Fax 022 781 2192 ****************************************************************************** Sujet: Physics of the $\tau$ lepton Par: Prof. Simonetta Gentile University of Rome Resume: The status of $\tau$ physics will be reviewed from an experimental point of view: as static properties of the $\tau$ and its neutrino $\nu_{\tau}$, such as mass and spin, and as results observed in $e^ + e^- \to \tau^+ \tau^-$ from threshold to LEP energies. In particularly, it will be discussed the production of $\tau$ pairs by the electroweak neutral current interaction and the decay properties of the $\tau$ lepton by the weak charged current interaction. The properties of the three lepton generations will be compared. Finally, it will be commented on information in the search for new particles and interactions originating from $\tau$ physics.
