Note that this will only search the web pages. It will not search the internal contents of the individual .pdf files. All indexes and tables of contents are hyper-linked to the individual papers. Once you have found the necessary paper, click on the name or page nuber, and the file will be accessed through adobe acrobat. 2) In order to search through the contents of EVERY PDF file, use the Adobe Acrobat Index Tool. To access the tool, while in Adobe Acrobat, pull down the `Tool' menu and select `seacrch > query' from the acrobat menu. This will pull up a panel (named Adobe Acrobat Search) which will ask you for which words you wish to search for. In order to access the index of the 26th ICRC proceedings, you will first need to add the ICRC index to the Acrobat Search database. While you have the Adobe Acrobat Search panel on you desktop, click on the Indexes... button. This pulls up another panel (called Index Selection) which allows you to add additional indexes to be searched. Click on Add... and yu will get another panel (Add Index) asking for a .pdx file. Use the file name X:\root\index.pdx or X:/root/index.pdx where X; represents the path to your CDROM drive holding the ICRC proceedings. Click on Open and the panel entitled Index Selection will now contain a new index call 26th ICRC Proceedings Index. Click OK on this panle an you are ready to search the .pdf files of the ICRC proceedings for whatever characters the files may contain. Please note that some files will not be able to be accessed by the index. these are generally files which were bitmap scanned in from hardcopy. _________________________________________________________________ Comments/questions can be sent to kieda@krusty.physics.utah.edu Cheers, Dave Kieda 8/4/99
