The neutron detector (NUD) consists of 16 1 cm-thick boron-doped plastic scintillator plates of 19.5 cm by 19.5 cm large each read out by a PMT. The purpose of the NUD is to detect delayed neutron resulting from a hadron shower in order to improve the electron/proton separation power, which should be 10⁵ overall.
